Spring Wedding Cake Inspiration at Deighton Lodge

There is something so lovely about a spring wedding. The lighter colours, the fresh flowers and the soft, romantic details all come together so beautifully.

This styled shoot at Deighton Lodge was full of spring inspiration, with a gorgeous mix of colour, florals and countryside charm. It was such a lovely opportunity to create a cake that felt delicate, seasonal and a little bit different.

For the shoot, I created a tiered white wedding cake with hand-painted flowers. I wanted the design to feel soft and romantic, but still modern and elegant. The clean white finish gave the cake a simple, classic base, while the painted florals added colour, movement and personality.

As a wedding cake maker based in the East Riding of Yorkshire, I love creating cakes that are designed around the couple, the venue and the overall feel of the day. This cake was all about spring detail, soft colour and a finish that felt beautifully suited to the setting.

Spring Wedding Cake Inspiration

Spring is such a lovely season for wedding cake design. There are so many beautiful colours to work with, from soft pastels and fresh greens to warmer floral tones.

For this cake, the hand-painted flowers were the main feature. I wanted them to feel delicate and natural, almost as though they had grown across the tiers. The white background kept everything fresh and elegant, while the floral detail brought in that pretty spring feeling.

Hand-painted wedding cakes are a beautiful choice if you would like something personal, but not too busy. The design can be created around your own colour palette, your wedding flowers, your stationery or even little details from your venue styling.

It is a lovely way to make your wedding cake feel completely bespoke to you.

Hand-Painted Wedding Cakes

A white tiered wedding cake will always feel timeless, but adding hand-painted flowers gives it something extra special.

This design was created to feel romantic, artistic and full of soft detail. The painted flowers added colour without overpowering the cake, creating a style that felt refined, elegant and still very personal.

I always think a wedding cake should feel like part of the day, not just something placed in the corner of the room. It should sit beautifully alongside the flowers, the colours, the styling and the venue.

For this shoot at Deighton Lodge, the hand-painted florals worked so well with the spring theme and relaxed countryside setting. It was soft, fresh and full of charm.

At Let’s Talk Cake, every cake is created and baked to order using quality ingredients. I specialise in modern wedding and celebration cakes from my home in the East Riding of Yorkshire, with designs including tall tiers, ganache finishes, texture, colour, fresh flowers, pressed flowers, dried flowers and stencilling to suit each theme.

White tiered wedding cake with colourful spring flower detail

Deighton Lodge has such a relaxed countryside feel, so I wanted the cake to complement that without feeling too formal.

The tiered white cake kept the design classic, while the hand-painted flowers brought in softness and colour. It felt like the perfect balance for a spring wedding — elegant, but not overly traditional.

For couples planning a spring wedding in Yorkshire, this style is a lovely way to include floral detail in a more personal way. The flowers can be painted to match your own wedding colours, your bouquet, your table styling or your stationery, creating something that feels considered and completely unique.

That is one of my favourite parts of designing wedding cakes. It is not just about choosing a flavour or a number of tiers. It is about creating something that feels right for you and the day you are planning.

When choosing your wedding cake, it helps to think about the overall feel of your wedding, not just the size of the cake.

Your cake can be designed around your venue, your colour palette, your flowers, your stationery, your table styling, the season and, of course, your favourite flavours.

If you are looking for a wedding cake maker in East Yorkshire, or you are planning your wedding at Deighton Lodge, I would love to talk through your ideas and create something beautiful for your day.
